Florida Forestry Teachers’ Tour

The Florida Forestry Teachers’ Tour brings teachers from across the state to Fernandina Beach each June to see firsthand how forestry works in Florida. This four-day event demonstrates to educators that sustainability is the key to responsible forestry. Participating teachers experience all aspects of forestry practices from the planting and growing processes to the mills and end products. They also learn about chemical by-products created in the process of making paper. In short, they see first-hand the industry’s many efforts to maximize the effective and efficient use of resources.

The safety and wellbeing of teachers is always our top priority. The 2020 tour was cancelled due to COVID-19. Modifications are being considered for the 2021 tour and will be based on CDC safety guidelines to help minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 to participants and tour personnel. More information will be available in the new year.
